Health Insurance Coverage
Olive Nutrition is primarily a cash-pay practice, offering personalized, high-quality care without the constraints of traditional insurance models. However, select insurance options and alternative payment methods—including superbills for potential reimbursement and HSA/FSA use—are available to help support accessibility.
-
A superbill is a detailed receipt that you can use to request reimbursement from your insurance company for nutrition counseling services. It includes important information such as the date of service, type of service provided, fees paid, and standardized billing codes (CPT codes), along with any relevant diagnostic information if applicable.
While Olive Nutrition does not bill insurance directly, many clients are able to submit superbills to their insurance provider to seek out-of-network reimbursement for nutrition services. Coverage varies widely depending on your specific insurance plan and benefits.
In some cases, insurance companies may require:
A referral from a physician
A qualifying diagnosis code (ICD-10) from a medical provider
Proof that nutrition counseling is medically necessary (for example: digestive concerns, metabolic conditions, diabetes, etc.)
We recommend contacting your insurance provider to ask about your out-of-network nutrition benefits and whether a referral or diagnosis is required for reimbursement.
-
Many clients are able to use HSA or FSA funds to pay for nutrition counseling and health coaching services. These accounts allow you to use pre-tax dollars for qualified medical expenses, which may include nutrition services depending on your plan and eligibility.
To use your HSA or FSA, you typically can:
Pay directly for services using your HSA/FSA debit card at the time of your appointment, or
Pay out of pocket and submit your receipt for reimbursement through your HSA/FSA administrator
We recommend checking with your HSA/FSA provider to confirm coverage details, as eligibility can vary depending on your specific plan and whether a medical diagnosis or referral is required.
Upon request, Olive Nutrition can provide a detailed receipt or documentation of services to support reimbursement if needed.

Olive Nutrition is in-network with Trucordia through 6 Degrees Health.
For services to be covered in-network, a referral from a physician is required, along with appropriate diagnosis (ICD-10) codes indicating medical necessity. Once a referral is in place, nutrition counseling and follow-up visits may be billed directly through the Trucordia/6 Degrees Health network.
Coverage is dependent on plan benefits, so we recommend confirming eligibility and referral requirements with your insurance provider or referring physician prior to your first visit.
